The EPIC5 Challenge is an athletic and spiritual journey which takes place over 5 days on 5 islands covering 703 miles.
Jason Lester organizes the EPIC5 Challenge that requires each athlete to complete a full Ironman distance – 2.4 miles (3.8K) swimming, 112 miles (180K) cycling, 26 miles (42K) running on five straight days on the islands of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and finishing on The Big Island of Hawaii.
That distance of cycling and running is mind-boggling with very little time for recovery – which probably mostly happens during the swim legs. The swim legs have got to provide relief and relaxation to some weary bodies over this five-day adventure of physical punishment.
Among the athletes in the relay portion is accomplished marathon swimmer Michelle Macy (shown above).
