The Grand Dublin Swim will take place on the July 23rd 2016 in the heart of Dublin.

Our goal is to create a fun water sports day for all ages and abilities – from the community-based swimmers up to triathlon and international swimmers with a fantastic location at the Liffey Docklands.”

Over 500 swimmers take part.

Waves of swimmers start off every hour on the hour from 12.00 pm to 4:00 pm. Each wave consists of up to 125 swimmers. Swimmers have a choice of whether to compete in 750-meter or 1.5 km swims with wetsuit and non-wetsuit options. One of the waves is an elite wave with the fastest swimmers and triathletes. Each wave will also be open to teams to compete for overall team prizes.

We have created a safe and supervised environment and will have lifeguards and first aiders on hand. There are street performers, teddy bear picnic and face painting so it is a day for the family. We promote water safety and have event staff attending along with volunteers from the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association.”

The swim is part of the Leinster Open Sea Calendar. Swim Ireland non-wetsuit (skins) members can also use this as one of the four swim qualifiers for Ireland’s Blue Ribbon open water swimming events including the Liffey Swim and the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Swim.

The first 300 online entrant will receive a free goodie bag and t-shirt.

The Irish Long Distance Swimming Association (Leinster Area) will run free weekly swims under the guidance of experienced coaches for new and existing swimmers from May through September. For more information visit here.
