21st Annual Chicago Big Shoulders Swim Crowns Champs

Today’s Big Shoulders 5K saw 36-year-old Adam Dawkins dominate the field by over 2 minutes as he clocked a 59:08 for his victory. He was followed by Justin Chiles and Jeffrey Halbert who were 2nd and 3rd.

Former USA Swimming national team member Megan Ryther topped the women’s field with a very impressive 4th place overall finish. Second among the women was Polly Surhoff followed by this year’s Manhattan Island Marathon Swim winner Erica Rose in third.

In the 2.5K race, Chris Clarke set the pace with his 32:13 victory. Rafal Szukala and David Ackermann captured silver and bronze respectively.

The top woman was Kelly Perry with her 3rd overall finish in 33:54. Besty Mullens was second and Kira Redig was third.

In one of the premier swims in the United States, Lake Michigan proved to be a great venue for another sold-out field. The results are posted here.
