2016 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix Schedule

FINA has posted the dates for the 2016 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix.

The FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix was won by Macedonia’s Evgenij Pop Acev in 2015 who will try to defend his title next year over the same five races in 2016.

2016 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix Schedule:

February 7th – 25 km Maratón Internacional Aguas Abiertas Villa Urquiza – Paraná), Argentina
TBC – 15 km Maratón Cozumel, Mexico
July 30th – 32 km Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean), Canada
August 20th – 33 km Охридски Пливачки Маратон, Ohridski Plivački Maraton, Macedonia
September 4th – 36 km Maratona del Golfo Capri-Napoli, Italy

The FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix is held in concurrently throughout the year with the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup series that consists of 8 races, down from 10 in 2015.

One of the two races not on the 2016 professional circuit is the Setúbal Bay 10 km race which serves as the second qualifier for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

February 6th – La Patagones Viedma (Maraton Patagones-Viedma International Open Water Swim), Argentina
February 27th – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
TBC – Cozumel, Mexico
June 18th – Balatonfured, Hungary
July 28th – Lac St-Jean, Canada
August 13th – Lac-Mégantic, Canada
October 9th – Chun’an, China
October 15th – Hong Kong
