Piloted by Lance Oram, six U.S. Masters Swimming women – Amanda Mercer, Jenny Sutton Jalet, Bethany Williston, Emily Kreger, Susan Butcher, and Melissa Karjala – set a new standard for a 6-person all-female two-way crossing of the English Channel in 18 hours 55 minutes 20 seconds on Saturday.

They enjoyed the “hardest, longest day of their lives.” Butcher smiles at the thought, “It was pretty rough, but amazing at the same time.”
