The storm stayed offshore, preventing the cancellation and postponement of the tenth anniversary of the 15 km Clean Half Extreme Marathon Swim. “Typhoon #1 stopped moving with a high pressure system from China that kept it offshore for the day, leaving us with incredible weather given what it could have been, and some fast times, with over 270 swimmers,” reported Doug Woodring.
“The winds and waves never came, nor did the squalls or thunderstorms – luckily. But the currents were with us, as were those looking after us for respecting the ocean.”
