Race director Kent Nicholas confirmed, “The water temperature is perfect, the four lakes are over 90% filled to capacity, and no rain is in the forecast” for the 2024 SCAR Swim Challenge. But SCAR is never easy with wind forecasts building up to 31 mph (50 kph) on Day 3.
59 swimmers are confirmed for the famed 4-day stage swim in the heart of the arid desert in Arizona where the swimmers will traverse Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Apache Lake, and Roosevelt Lake amid dramatic landscapes.
At a cumulative distance of 66 km, it is one of the longest stage competitions in the world, and part of the Triple Crown of Stage Swims.
Nikko Price, a 30-year-old from Branford, Connecticut and a marathon swimming veteran, is touted as the race favorite having won the 25 km Swim Across the Sound and Swim Around Key West in Florida. Learn more about Price here.
