Romance can be found in many places and in many situations, but many open water swimmers can find no more romantic place than an idyllic spot on a beautiful beach with the person they love.

One incredible true story of a romantic proposal was the risk-taking, gutsy proposal by Todd to his fiance.

Todd knew the love of his life felt no more comfortable than in a tranquil, tropical beach so he arranged to take her skin diving. Cruising among the shallow reef, he pointed to a clam shell wedged between some coral. Calm and composed, he motioned underwater for her to open it. As she raised her head and the clam above the surface of the water, Todd smile and suggested, “Look inside, these shells always have surprises.”

Curious, she peeked inside the clam, slowly opened it and was shocked to find the engagement ring that Todd that secretly planted there in the early morning. “Will you marry me?”

Her tears of joy were her answer.
