Members of the FINA Federations vote the world’s best aquatic athletes in 2010. In the open water swimming category, there are five nominees.

The nominees include:

Valerio Cleri (Italy): world 10K champion
Alex Meyer (USA): world 25K champion
Thomas Lurz (Germany): world 5K champion, 10K European champion

Chad Ho (South Africa): FINA 10KM Marathon Swimming World Cup champion

Petar Stoychev (Bulgaria): FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix series champion and world 25K championship bronze medalist
