The 3rd Turkey Open Water Swimming Championships are being held today in the Gulf of Izmir.

In two weeks, the Van Denizi Su Sporları Şenlikleri water sports festival with open water swimming competitions will be held on June 29th and 30th in Van Sea (Van Denizi).

Interestingly, Van Sea was previously known as Van Lake until the Turkish government deemed the large lake as a sea due to its investments to upgrade the harbor facilities.
