The United States government shut-down led to the cancellation of the Slam The Dam event in Lake Mead in the state of Nevada, near Las Vegas.

The shutdown also led to the last-minute rescheduling of Martin Strel’s Swimming Adventure Holidays in Lake Powell, Utah.

Martin and I got stuck with this government shutdown, so we needed to reschedule our swims into the Utah State Park at Sand Hollow and Quail Creek lakes. It was quite on ordeal,” explains Borut Strel. “With all this drama with the shutdown, Lake Powell is fully closed now. It has caused a lot of problems here for local businesses; the same that is happening at all the national parks and other places.”
