John, a 41-year-old swimmer from Half Moon Bay (California) was nearing completion of a solo 9.6-mile Maui Channel Swim and was close to the Maui coast when a boat hit him. His blog clearly demonstrates what a fine individual is, well-liked and well-respected by those who know him.
