Trinity University, coached by John Ryan and buoyed by its depth, won both the men’s and women’s divisions at the 5th Annual American Swimming Association Open Water Swimming Collegiate National Championships held in Lake Travis, Austin, Texas on October 1st – as well as had the fastest swimmer in the 5K competition.

Alexander Grandins of Savannah College of Art and Design won the men’s race in 58:48.4 followed by Taylor Smith.

In a near photo finish, Texas A&M teammates Cammile Adams (1:02:46.5) and Maureen Mclaine (1:02:46.7) went 1-2 in the women’s race.

The American Swimming Association Open Water Swimming Collegiate National Championships are open to any student, who is enrolled full-time in an accredited institution of higher education, including any post high school accredited vocational or technical school, junior college, community college, college or university (including graduate schools, medical schools, law schools and post-graduate studies).
