The GADD (GaddinAbtGarnish 2012) is back.

It is a meandering swim with 1 km, 3 km and 5 km options, something for everybody. It is not a race. This year, we have loads of novices again. Some swimmers from last September’s event are moving up a step to 3 km,” says Oswald Schmidt, the race director.

The circumnavigation swim around Garnish Island in County Cork, Ireland is described as one of the most stunning and safest island circumnavigation swims in Ireland, set in a beautiful post glacial landscape in the sheltered waters of the northeast corner of Bantry Bay. Surrounded by the rugged mountains of the
Beara Peninsula and teaming with water wildlife, it is a swim not to be missed by newcomers and veterans alike.

With its affiliation with Ned Deniston’s Cork Distance Week, the circumnavigation has created its own vortex of popularity.
