The California company Method has taken another innovative approach to cleaning up the environment. This time, the company used green chemistry to turn trash that is swirling in the Pacific Ocean into bottles.
Working with Envision Plastics, Method collects and recycles the debris that floating in the ocean. Adam Lowry and Eric Ryan, co-founders of Method, lead a team that makes an ocean bottle, 100% high-density polyethylene plastic, 25% of which comes from plastic from the ocean.
The intent behind the ocean bottle is not to clean up the entire mess in the Pacific Ocean. Adam explained, “The real goal is to raise the awareness of plastic pollution.”
