Theodore Yach’s Cold Warm-up Swim For Hout Bay

Spread the love

Theodore Yach, on standby for his 35K Hout Bay to Robben Island swim in South Africa, completed his world record setting 59th crossing between 3 Anchor Bay and Robben Island in Cape Town. Together with Ryan Stramrood, he finished in 2 hours and 58 minutes in 12°C (53.6°F) water as he looks forward to the January 10th window for his unprecedented jaunt through Great White Shark territory.

Theodore, an ambassador for multi-nutrient Marcus Rohrer Spirulina estimates he will swim for up to 12 hours in water that can drop down to 10°C (50°F). He is raising funds for the Cadiz Open Water Swimming Development Trust which promotes swimming at grassroots and supports disadvantaged swimmers. He is calling for donations of R100 per stroke (US$0.14) for as many of the 34,000 strokes he expects to complete this challenge (or a total of US$486,000).

Theodore will soon be a guest on Open Water Wednesday.
