CNN reported a new marine animal in the Pacific Ocean.

The 2-3 mm translucent skeleton shrimp was understandably hard to locate. It was discovered in a cave on on Santa Catalina Island and is among the nearly 18,000 new species named by the International Institute for Species Exploration in 2013.

The list of new species is released each May 23rd, the birthday of 18th-century Swedish botanist Carolus Linnaeus, who is considered the father of modern taxonomy. Scientists believe another 10 million species await discovery, five times the number that are already known to exist.
