The women’s and men’s 10 km European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Championships in Stari Grad, Croatia will be held on Wednesday this week. The 10 km race will be the first event of the four-day championships.

On the men’s side, the competition among the Olympic medalists include Marc-Antoine Olivier of France (World Aquatics bio here, @marc_antoine_olivier_officiel), Dávid Betlehem of Hungary (World Aquatics bio here, @betlehemdavid), Kristóf Rasovszky of Hungary (World Aquatics bio here, @kristofrasovszky), and Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy (World Aquatics bio here, @greg_palt) is expected to be heated and will be a great precursor to the upcoming 2025 World Aquatics Championships held in Singapore this July.

On the women’s side, the top guns from the 2024 Paris Olympics should have a great dual with the rest of the field in a tight pack. Fifth-place 2024 Paris Olympic finisher Bettina Fábián of Hungary (World Aquatics bio here) will likely battle Olympic bronze medalist Ginevra Taddeucci of Italy (World Aquatics bio here, @ginevrataddeucci, shown below), but a large leading pack is expected throughout the race with a lot of physicality involved.
