김장훈 측 관계자는 “김장훈이 해경배를 타고 울릉도로 오던 와중에 높은 파도로 접안이 힘들게 됐다. 또 탈진 증세와 공황장애 증세가 와서 병원으로 이동중이다”고 밝혔다.

김장훈은 현재 해경배를 타고 동해 묵호항으로 이동 중이며, 강릉 아산병원에 입원할 예정이다. 김장훈 측은 “기자회견 등 일정이 모두 취소됐다. 병원으로 가 검사를 받고 휴식을 취할 예정이다”고 밝혔다.

최근 과로와 스트레스로 병원에 입원했던 김장훈은 몸이 완전히 회복되지 않은 상황 속에서도 첫 주자로 바닷물에 뛰어들어 다른 팀원들을 격려했다. 상비약을 복용하고 링거를 맞은 뒤 한차례 더 입수하기도 했다.

본래 계획은 모든 팀원이 독도에 입도할 예정이었지만 거센 파도로 독도수비대 측이 선박의 접안을 허가하지 않아 어려움을 겪었다. 결국 독도까지 500m를 앞두고 한체대 소속 학생 두 명(정찬혁, 이세훈)이 안전망 없이 수영해 독도 입도에 성공했다.
The original plan is everyone of the team land in dok-do. however, because of harsh ocean wave, the garrison of dok-do did not permitted the approaching of any ship. Finally, 2 students of korean national sport university swam without safety equipment 500m and succeed to enter dok-do.
