The Agony And The Ecstacy Of Open Water Swimming

La Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean attracts the world’s elite open water swimmers to Roberval in Quebec, Canada.

La Traversée, one of the world’s longest continuously running marathon swims, is always a tough race – something that is clearly etched on the faces of the swimmers.

In this year’s race, 7 out of 20 athletes did not finish.

And the 13 athletes who did finish had the look of sheer exhaustion, relief and joy upon crossing the finish line.
