When Miyuki Fujita and her coach Ishii-san tackle a marathon swim in Japan, they roll out the flag on their escort boat which can be translated as “Swimmer in the water – Trudgeon Swimming Club”.
This adds another element of safety for everyone involved when a marathon swimmer is in crowded waters and can help other people in the area understand that the marathon swimmer is doing in the water.
