Natasha Haim of SwimTrek presents opportunities that did not exist before SwimTrek came into existence.
SwimTrek, established in 2003 by visionary British aquapreneur Simon Murie, created the market of guided open water swimming holidays. From his first trip to the Greek Cyclades in July 2003 to currently over 40 locations in over 20 countries worldwide, SwimTrek continues to expand with the growing global interest in swim holidays.
Haim explains, “SwimTrek 60k virtual swim event which will be running throughout the month of November.
Last year, our teams collectively swam 38% of Earth’s circumference. It was clear most had outgrown the 60K monthly goal (some were breaching the target together in 2-3 days). So, we’ve set ourselves the considerable target of collectively swimming 40,075 kilometres this year (pushing on to add the extra 62%) and completing a full lap around the globe.
A virtual swim of this scale has never been done before. It’s very ambitious, but doable. We just need as many teams as we can possibly get and as many swimmers as we can feasibly coax into pools or open water.
Currently, over 250 teams with over 700 have already signed up.
The benefit?
- It is free
- It does not matter where you do it.
- No devices are needed; participation is all based on an honest email when submitting weekly meters
For every swimmer, we are offering to donate $5 to our partner charity Seatrees, supporting their work in reforesting the ocean, and legends like Lewis Pugh and Sarah Thomas are also joining the fun, with many of our friends and partners on board to take part and support our outreach.“
