Nestled 1,200 miles (1,931 km) away from the Atlantic Ocean and 1,800 miles (2,896 km) away from the Pacific Ocean, the participants in the Swim The Bridge event continue to enjoy the sport year after year in Saylorville Lake along the Mile Long Bridge.

The Swim The Bridge is a multi-race event that is the only open water event in the state of Iowa. The event offers 500m, 1.2-mile, 2.4-mile, and 3.1-mile races.

58-year-old Wayne Huebener holds the 3.1-mile (5 km) distance course record.
