Ireland’s Steve Redmond has successfully swum the English channel (in 20 hours 10 minutes) and the North Channel (17:17) and just completed the Strait of Gibraltar in 5:01 this past weekend.
With three of the four Oceans Seven swims under his belt, he has certainly established a name for himself among the elite endurance swimmers.
“I have completed the Cape Clear Island to Schull Slip Way four times [the latest in 4:20],” explained Steve. “I use it for build-up to other swims over the last two years. Also did the Fastnet Lighthouse to Schull Slipway in 6:35 and the Fastnet Lighthouse to Baltimore Beacon in 6 hours. I train I’n Lock Ine most of the time.”
