On September 14th, 46-year-old South African Simone Blaser swam 54 km of the Upper Ord River in Kimberly, Western Australia as she navigating crocodiles and other wildlife in a 16 hour 13 minute charity marathon swim when she raised $8000 for Swim for Refugees.

She said, “This swim touched my heart. It will be forever etched as one of the best moments of my life. [It was a] privilege to have been a pioneer and expedition swimmer in one of the most remote and most beautiful places in Australia. The gratitude of being capable to swim it [along with] the kindness and support of locals, friends and foreigners alike.

It’s hard to describe the feeling whilst entering the water: humble, spiritual, emotional with excitement and joy. And the feeling when I finally reached the end point: overwhelmed, exhausted, elated, proud, beyond happy.
