The SwimTrek 60k virtual swim event (@swimtrek) – currently running throughout November – has completed its first week.
Jack Hudson gave the first week’s update, “So far, 262 active teams submitted distances. Collectively, we have swam 7,925 kilometers or 20% of our target – and have 32,150 kilometers left to circle the world.“
If you have already registered, you can go to https://swimtheworld.paperform.co/ to upload your swimming distance.
After the first week, Seas The Day (130 km), Barely Buoyant (118.6 km), AMBSC_JTT (112.2 km), The Mighty Mermaids and Their Merman (109.15 km), and Team Peng-Win (107.3 km) are among the top 5 teams.

SwimTrek, ever ambitious in organizing a virtual swim of this scale, has set a target of collectively swimming 40,075 kilometers this year to complete a full lap around the globe. The benefits of participation include:
- It is free
- It does not matter where you do it
- No devices are needed; participation is all based on an honest email when submitting weekly meters
For every swimmer, SwimTrek donates $5 to its partner charity Seatrees to support their work in reforesting the ocean. Lewis Pugh and Sarah Thomas are also joining in the campaign.
