Sea Pool At Bude

Spread the love

The Sea Pool at Bude was created in the 1930’s to provide a haven for safe swimming for the residents and visitors on the north Cornwall coast in England.

The historical pool nestles under the coastal cliffs and is topped up twice a day by the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Over the generations, the idyllic location is a harmonious blend of man-made construction and ingenuity with the power of Mother Nature and dynamic movement of the environment.

Like man’s own physical nature, if it is not used, it will be lost to the ravages of the constantly pounding sea. Following funding cutbacks, the Sea Pool faces an uncertain future without specific management expertise and financial help.

The Friends of Bude Sea Pool was formed in 2011 to secure the Pool’s future under local management.

Visit here to read more about the work of the non-profit Friends of Bude Sea Pool and the work of dedicated volunteers like Paul Tilzey and Rowena Hoseason. “There has been a concerted effort from the community. It demonstrates just how important the Sea Pool is to so many people in this area,” explains Chairman Tilzey.
