Xavier Desharnais of Canada prepped for tomorrow’s 3 km international team relay competition by participating in today’s 4 km ocean swim at the King and Queen of the Sea competition on Copacabana Beach.

I have been studying for my final exams and just sleeping 3-4 hours per night. It has been very hard. But right after my last exam, I flew to Rio de Janeiro. I am having a great time here.”

By the looks of his expressions during the race, Desharnais is certainly having a blast.

Aaron Peirsol who will be representing the United States with his teammate Ashley Twitchell predicts, “Tomorrow is going to be a very interesting competition because we do not get to swim in open water relays and certainly not against men versus women. There will be a lot of tactics going on. It will be fun.”
