Salvatore Cimmoni Crosses Molokai in his Swimming in the Seas of the Globe

Spread the love

I faced strong winds and very large ocean swells, but I made it,” said amputee Salvatore Cimmino (Italy, @salvator.cimmino) who crossed the 45 km Molokai Channel from Molokai to Oahu at Kaiser Estate near China Walls in 13 hours 27 minutes escorted by pilot Manoa Buckman (@triedtofixit_thanbrokeit_manoa).

Bill Goding said, “China Walls was ruled out due to the difficulty [Salvatore would have had] climbing up on a ledge to clear the water [so he got out at Kaiser Estate.”

Cimmoni said, “I feared cramps, but I swam 45 km of suffering to remember the 1.45 billion people with disabilities [around the world] who, as innocents, live a sad and painful imprisonment together with their families. Our [world] is an unjust society: reducing inequalities and strengthening social justice does not mean making everyone equal, but it means having the freedom to be different.

The fight for inclusion must not be postponed.”

And his Swimming in the Seas of the Globe (A Nuoto nei Mari del Globo) continues on.
