
Robin Rose completed a 30 km channel crossing from Madeira Island to Desertas in the small archipelago of Portugal, organized by Mayra Santos of Madeira Open Water Swim on May 4th.
The 63-year-old from San Francisco, California started at 7:30 am and finished at 4:31 pm for an official time of 9 hours 1 minute 52 seconds. Jim Rasmussen and Mayra Santos both served as her observers,oao Duarte was the safety officer, Carolina Sousa was the referee and timekeeper, Lisandro Coelho was the lifeguard, and the escort pilot was João Moreira.
