New Zealand-based adventure marathon swimmer and triathlete Rob Hutchings will soon release his new book called ‘Downriver Nomad‘.
Hutchings explains, “Downriver Nomad is currently available on most online book retailers for pre-order and will be released on October 11th. It is an adventure memoir of my journeys around the world, competing in triathlons, marathon swims, and backcountry adventures. I describe my challenges in dealing with an increasingly violent alcoholic father as I was finding my feet in the sports of triathlon and marathon swimming as a teenager.”
Hutchings writes in detail how marathon swimming and endurance sport helped him through several of heartbreaking experiences in his life. He’s also hilariously tells stories of comedic mishaps in various endurance sporting events around the world. Downriver Nomad culminates with his unprecedented 256 km 5-day stage swim of New Zealand’s Clutha River from the beautiful mountain town of Wanaka to the Pacific Ocean. Hutchings self-organized, trained for, and completed the swim that he was told would be impossible to achieve.
