Women Share Their Secrets to Taking on the World is a collection of letters, wisdom, and wishes from women to young girls (8 – 12 years old) about life lessons and about finding their way authentically. The 420-page book was recently released in October by Rebel Girls in both paperback and ebook formats.
The book is part of an ongoing series, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, that features stories, letters, art, and poems from 145 trailblazing women to empower the girls of today as they take on the world.
The latest version of Rebel Girls includes contributions by 145 trailblazing women who share their best advice for girls through letters, poems, and essays as they address topics from overcoming obstacles to discovering passions and dreaming big.
One of the contributors is Professor Bhakti Sharma from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, an Indian channel swimmer and ice swimmer (see her Antarctica swim below), certainly dreamed big as she discovered her passion for channel crossings, marathon swims, and ice swimming. “When trying to write for Dear Rebels, I thought about what my younger self would have wished somebody had told her. The result is this deeply vulnerable and hopeful essay.“
One of her many feats was a swim in Antarctica that she has since explained on several TED Talks:
