How open water swimmers can change mindsets while opening up an entirely new part of Planet Earth for fun, frolicking and freestyling.

Previously, the Farallon Islands were only a destination for a very small handful of swimmers who challenged themselves to swim between the California mainland and the desolate islands, home of Great White Sharks and thousands of pinnipeds.

Other than researchers, fishermen and divers, athletes and aquatic adventurers did not have the Farallones on their bucket list and certainly not on their training table.

But the Night Train Swimmers have changed all that. As Vito Bialla, Dave Holscher, Kim Chambers, Kate Weber, Simon Dominguez, and Ashley Horne completed the first circumnavigation swim around the Farallon Islands on Sunday, others may follow in training around Devil’s Teeth.
