Cyril Baldock is an Australian open water swimmer and a life member of Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club. The 7-time national surf-swim and rescue/resuscitation champion completed the English Channel in 1985 in 10 hours 44 minutes in his first attempt.
In his second attempt, planned for August 2014, he will be 70 years and 9 months – 4 months older than current record holder for the oldest individual to cross the English Channel, Dr. Roger Allsopp.
That is, if the current record is not upped by some other septuagenarian before.
