The 1st Hungarian Ice Swimming National Championship was held in Lupa tó on December 1st, offering races in the 50m, 100m, 250m, 500m and 1000m freestyle, 50m and 100m breaststroke, 50m and 100m butterfly, and 4 x 25m relay fun swim.
In the build-up to the IISA 6th World Championship (@international_ice_swimming) that will be held in Molveno, Italy between January 13th – 19th 2025, referee Rita Lazar, medical officer Zoltan Kollo, IISA official Reka Oszvald, and a number of volunteers assisted event director Daniel Patakfalvi Vigh. During the month of December, the IISA Great British Championships, the Amsterdam Ice Swim, the French National Championships, the Silbersee-Ice-Cup in Germany, and the Hungarian Ice Swimming Championships helped fine-tune the ice swimming community to peak for the Molveno ice swimming world championship next month.
37-year-old Peter Plavec of Slovakia (@peter.plavec) won the 500m and 1000m freestyle and finished second in the 250m freestyle in the 5.30°C water and 9.0°C air. The 2023 Winter Swimming World Championship 1000m world champion and ice swimming ambassador is looking to make an impact in Molveno.
43-year-old Mariann Nagy of Hungary (@mariannwolf) won both the 500m freestyle and 100m butterfly, and finished second in the 250m freestyle – and is similarly headed towards Molveno.
