Penalty In Fiji For Wetsuits And Technical Swimsuits

Spread the love

David Handley, Founding Director of Fiji Swims and Bathtub Productions, hosts a great open water swimming event in Fiji, but in keeping in line with his laid-back, fun-filled approach to open water swimming, the event has instituted a time penalty of 10% for use of wetsuits and technical swimsuits in the 18K solo swim and relay event.

Considering the relay record of 3 hours and 55 minutes and the solo record of 4 hours and 56 minutes, the use of wetsuits or technical swimsuits for record-setting purposes could range up to nearly 30 minutes for solo swimmers.

The traditional approach sounds like the right strategy for the Fiji Swims.
