What passionately intense open water swimmer has not gazed out from a coastline or shoreline wondering about the water temperature and conditions of an ocean, lake, river, sea or bay?

How far is it? How cold is the water? Any currents? Any marine life? are all questions that race through an open water swimmer’s head when bodies of water are near.

This warning label on a hotel toilet reminds us that sometimes open water swimmers will try almost anything and go almost anywhere to get a swim in.
