Ocean Man Ernie Leskovitz Passes

Ernie Leskovitz, originally from Florida who moved to Oahu later in life, made a name for himself in both in the pool and ocean races from the Caribbean to Hawaii passed away on January 28th due to a stroke.

His prowess in the ocean was renowned. In 2005, he was inducted in the Hawai’i Swimming Hall of Fame while he was in the middle of his run of 23 Waikiki Roughwater Swims on Oahu between 1991 and 2014, finishing first in his age group 20 times, second in his age group 1 time, and third in his age group 2 times.

In addition to his fastest times in the United States in the 100-yard and 100-meter butterfly events, 100m freestyle, and 400m individual medley in the pool, he won his age group winner in the 4-race North Shore Swim Series on Oahu, and competed in St. Croix, the Miami Mile, the Delray Ocean Mile, the ISHOF Hall of Fame ocean swim, the Boca Raton swim, the Hollywood open water swim in Florida, and the Maui Channel Swim and 7 km Double Roughwater in the Hawaiian Islands.
