I went last month, to Dover to swim,
but the weather wouldn’t allow it,
the wind blew hard, vigor and vim,
and the Channel raged over & about it.
So I plodded in the harbor, up and down,
calling Mike Oram every day,
to talk about the weather, and smile or frown,
depending on what he had to say.
Good Mike shared no good news, I’m afraid,
but his fault it wasn’t, I agree,
for the Channel was angry, not calm, not staid,
and Good Mike doesn’t control the sea!
