Matt Drew is a 40-year-old open water swimmer from Glasgow, Scotland. He has completed an English Channel relay and an end-to-end swim across Coniston Water as well as participated in the Scottish Gas Scottish Open Water Swimming Championships, Scottish Masters and the Ye Amphibious Ancients Bathing Association mile swim.
“I love swimming in the lochs and rivers of the UK. It is fresh water all the way,” says the Ranger at Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
“I started open water swimming in 2010, got an [English] Channel relay under my belt and enjoy swimming with my masters swimming club, The Glasgow Nomads.”
Drew found his way from neoprene to bioprene in the River Clyde a few years ago. “I signed up for a swim across the River Clyde. It was my first dip in open water. I have now flung away the wetsuit and enjoy proper open water swimming in my trunks 3 or 4 times a week.”
