Radio personality Marcus Connaughton, the voice and authority behind Seascapes, introduced the Lord Mayor of the County of Cork to open the 2103 Global Open Water Swimming Conference.
The Lord Mayor explained the multiple reasons for having the Global Open Water Swimming Conference. “We have a thing in Ireland called The Gathering in Ireland. It is for people who are outside of Ireland to come back to Ireland. The year has been very active and many people have been returning back to Ireland.
Part of the gathering, initiated by our Prime Minister, is our week in Cork which is called the Rebel Week for Cork people and the Global Open Water Swimming Conference is a beginning of this week.
As Jimmy Dean once said, “I can’t change the direction but I can always adjust my sails to reach my destination.”
