Nuala Moore knows no boundaries.
The 56-year-old Irish ice swimmer has given many speeches, clinics, interviews, presentations, and one-on-one sessions. Now she has written her memoir about her limitless mindset.
Her new book, Limitless, is scheduled to be released on September 7th. Her words describe her mindset and give reason for her actions. The Irish Ice Miler explains, “My mantra has always been, ‘We can only swim the water in front of us, because we have no mountain top‘.”
“I first met Nuala at the Global Open Water Swimming Conference in New York City in 2011, and was immediately impressed with her passion,” said Steven Munatones. “But I first saw Nuala perform at the 2017 Ice Swimming Aqua Sphere World Championships in Burghausen, Germany. After the Ice Kilometer in 3.4°C water, she calmly got out of the water, put a towel around her shoulders, dried off, and talked me to about the event, the competitors, the role of seconds, the rewarming process, the ambiance of the ice swimming community, both globally and in Burghausen…all while she never shivered, always smiled, and simply wore a parka and clogs on her feet as the snowflakes fell around us in the -11°C air. I was wrapped up in all kinds of winter gear, cold as can be, but Nuala kept on smiling and talking about the excitment being around these incredible extreme athletes.“

Moore is on tour right now, from Dingle to Dunfanaghy, doing speeches and giving radio interviews. For more information, visit www.gillbooks.ie.
She says, “The book has been a wonderful experience. Life had offered me so much challenge in the last few years and I really wanted to share my history and more importantly the why: the why I decided that I could 1000m swim at 0°C when no one else was doing it. Why take the risk and the pain? I was delighted with the journey.”

Gill Books describes Limitless as “The sea has always been a part of Nuala Moore’s life: her earliest memory is of jumping off her father’s fishing boat in Dingle Harbour and swimming back to shore. Since then, she’s swum in some of the coldest, most remote and dangerous waters in the world, from the Bering Strait to the Drake Passage.
After years of marathon swimming, Nuala struggled to balance sacrifice and achievement. Her work–life balance, coupled with caring for her father, forced a change in her pathway. She turned to ice swimming. For Nuala, these extreme situations offered freedom and a chance to find her true north.
Nuala believes that everyone is capable of greatness, whatever shape that might take. Limitless is her breathtaking memoir, detailing what goes through her mind when she’s in the water and how, when she returns home, she processes the fallout of pushing herself to the brink.”
