“Life is like a wave. You cannot change how it breaks, only how you ride it,” said the 21-year-old Ryan Alea Young before her passing in a car accident in 2009.
The Pier-2-Pier Race is a 2-mile point-to-point ocean swim in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina held in memory of Young.
The 12th annual Pier-2-Pier Race is hosted by the Wilmington Family YMCA and the Cape Fear Aquatic Club on September 10th. All proceeds from the charity swim support the YMCA’s swim team, the Cape Fear Aquatic Club.
