There were numerous touching and inspirational stories at the recent World Aquatics Masters Championships that were held in Singapore on July 26th-27th.
English-born 80-year-old Lesley Meaney won the World Aquatics Masters Championships 3 km open water swim in Singapore on July 26th in 1 hour 31 minutes 43.2 seconds at the age of 80, representing the Busselton Masters.
A Life Member of the Rottnest Channel Swim Association, she has enjoyed quite a life from growing up in England to becoming an accomplished artist in Australia. She talks about her eventful, inspirational life in the Good Chat podcast, Women To Inspire My Daughter here.
The first woman who completed a 19.7 km crossing of the Rottnest Channel Swim in Western Australia in 1969 in 9 hours 35 minutes [shown above in the photo on left] starts off the podcast with a bang.”Yes it was unfair, but I grew up when women and girls were treated as lesser beings. It was just something that you accept and, in a way, that was an incredible advantage.”
