Keeping Track Of Fish Down Under

In various parts of the world, there are reportedly more shark sightings than before. Part of the reason is that stand-up paddlers are reporting these sharks in various beaches around the world. Because the stand-up paddlers can see deeper in the water than other marine enthusiasts, they are noticing sharks (or…something…) whereas no one saw these denizens of the deep before.

So the sharks were always there; it is simply the fact that they are noticed more in some places.

The same is true apparently near population centers due to the technology and online reporting capabilities of projects like the Ocearch Global Shark Tracker.
