James Penrose is efficient.
The 61-year-old completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming in just over 10 months. And it would have been even faster had he just missed the tides at the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim this June.
Penrose completed the first swim in the English Channel on October 7th 2012 in 13 hours 32 minutes, then finished his Catalina Channel crossing in 13 hours 44 minutes before wrapping up his Triple Crown with an 8 hour 42 minute Manhattan Island Marathon Swim’s Quiet Swim in August.
That achievement is a little over 10 months from start to finish; very efficient and one of the briefest periods among Triple Crowners ever.
