John Kenny kicked off his second season of the Upper Merion Open Water Swim Series in the Schuylkill River in Pennsylvania. “Race #1 went off on Tuesday night. Although thunderstorms were in the forecast, the weather stayed clear and the race went off at 7 pm as planned. River temperature was a balmy 76°F (24°C); most racers elected to forego their wetsuits with all 67 swimmers finishing.” Kenny is happy with the improvements in the swimmers and triathletes participating in the 6-race weekday evening series. “Not only were there more participants, but those who raced were quite a bit faster than we’ve seen in previous years. 12 swimmers broke 12 minutes for the 800-meter swim. The overall men’s winner was 14-year-old Ivan Puskovitch from Episcopal Academy. The overall female winner was Casmera Wick, a swim coach at Villanova University.” The next race is scheduled for 7 pm on June 9th. For more information, visit here.
