While Esther Nuñez handily won the women’s race at the Maratón Acuática Internactional Ciudad de Rosario in Argentina, it was a dog fight down to the end among the men.

Simone Ercoli had just a little bit left in the tank at the end as he pulled out an exciting victory in 1:51:03 while second and third place was nearly a toss-up between Mario Sanzullo (1:51:08.2) and Guillermo Bertola of Argentina (1:51:08.7).

With 57 km of racing in Santa Fe-Coronda in 7 days and 88 km of racing in Hernandarias-Parana in 14 days, all the men will have plenty of additional opportunities for pacing, positioning, drafting, surging and sprinting with and against each other as the season continues.
