It Takes A Village To Organize An Open Water Race

Spread the love

While the race director may be the most visible and wanted person in the lead-up and organization of an open water race, there are so many more volunteers involved from the lifeguards and sound system engineers to the physicians and goodie bag stuffers…and start/finish helpers, course marshals, body marking crew, race officials, check-in staff, Clerk of Course, registration administrators, turn buoy judges, awards ceremony assistants, public relations and media coordinators, transponder/timing company staff, and signage and clean-up crew.

It truly takes a village to put on an open water swimmign event, as can be seen in this year’s King and Queen of The Sea (Rei e Rainha do Mar) video produced by Effect Sport.
