Spread the love

Inchbaggers Loch Lomond® was established in 2019 by Chris Sifleet (MSF bio here) after a 50-year career in Scotland the the rest of the UK. Sifleet completed two English Channel crossings in the 1970s (14 hours 56 minutes in 1976 and 20 hours 15 minutes in 1979) as well as a number of British Long Distance Swimming Association events and two two-way crossings of Windermere in the Lake District of England.

Her passion has developed enthusiasm within numerous others, from beginners to veterans. The bespoke swims that she currently organizes in Loch Lomond include swimming to, from, and around 12 islands on Loch Lomond:

  • 200 meters Swan Island
  • 400/800 meters Inveruglas
  • Eileen Deargainnan 1 km
  • Fraoch Island 3 km
  • Inchcailloch Island 4 km
  • Inchtravannoch 5 km
  • Inchmurrin 7 km
  • Sunday Morning Fun Social Swims
  • Icebaggers Winter Swims from October to March
  • Moonlight Challege Nighttime Swims
  • Loch Lomond Swims
  • 10 km Across the Loch Swims

Why Inchbaggers? Sifleet explains, “Because if you climb all the Munroes in Scotland you ‘bag’ a Munro. A lot of the islands begin with the Gaelic word ‘inch’. Therefore, you bag an inch equally – Inchbaggers.”
